Activision Release Six Titles For Wii U

So, there are many of us out there that already had the Wii U pegged as being that console which is leaving with the same fear of imminent doom as a chicken who just caught Colonel Sanders looking at him and licking his lips.

But maybe it's not all so bad for the Nintendo console as Activision have announced six new titles for it all due to come out during the second half of this year.

Click below to get the full SP on what's happening with Activision and Nintendo and find out what to expect between now and November.

First up is Skylanders SWAP Force, it's due out on October 13th in the US, the 16th in Australia and the 18th in Europe. It's the usual KAOS defeating toy/gaming combo you'd expect from the franchise with new characters, powerups and of course little plastic toys that somehow help the game along. It'll be compatible with the already huge array of figures and will bring 32 more with interchangeable top and bottom pieces, allowing for customisation, tantrums over lost pieces and terrorism of parents as soon as children see the new figures during shopping trips.

Then we have two games from the Angry Birds franchise, first up is Angry Birds Trilogy, this one is due on August 13th and gives you the original game, Seasons and Rio with 40 extra hours of levels (this comes straight from the mouths of Activision) and touch screen controls, meaning the game can now escape from the pocket onto yet another console for the approximately 2 people in the entire world who've never actually played Angry Birds.

The second game is Angry Birds Star Wars, this one follows hot on the heels of it's own sequel on every other format, meaning the Wii U can give itself a hearty slap on the back for being a console behind it's own generation bringing out a game an iteration behind it's own sequel. This one is due on October 29th there'll be 20 new levels as well as a competitive co-op mode for up to 4 players.

Spongebob Squarepants Plankton's Robotic Revenge is due out in this window too with no announced release date as such, but promises co-op gameplay in the familiar Bikini Bottom setting, with familiar characters and an original story where Sheldon J Plankton is up to no good with an army of robots. Expect platform and puzzle action from a franchise which again shows it's age in gaming circles, especially when the world is crying out for an Adventure Time game instead.

Also, a game with no release date is coming in the guise of Wipeout Create and Crash, this is based on the game show rather than the futuristic racer which pits players in the usual obstacle course shenanigans, some of which are themed, including the “Prehistoric Panic” course. In this one, there's also the chance to create an share your own courses, so you can test your own and your friend's and family's endurance with the minimum of broken limbs and the maximum of hurling profanity at the TV.

Finally, the one we were all expecting, which will release on November 5th is Call of Duty Ghosts, trundling up to release like the wheezy kid who's bad at sports, this one won't be able to pack the grunt and flashiness of it's XBOX 360 and PS3 counterparts, let alone the next gen offerings, but Activision are promising a new world, characters, story and engine for the game as well as multiplayer. Also touted are Wii Remote and second screen control. So, expect more on this when it happens.

So, that's it, Activision are breathing life into the newest old dog you ever saw. Keep it locked to Split Infinity Radio for more news as and when we get it.
