Pantheon: Rise of the Fallen, the newest brainchild Brad McQuaid - one of the creators of the original EverQuest - is being billed as a group-focused, challenging MMORPG based on an open world high fantasy. Ever longed to return to the golden age of MMOs where the challenge was king and loading screens were rarely seen? Then Mr. McQuaid and his crack team at Visionary Realms, Inc. may just have the game you've been looking for.
To quote the Pantheon Kickstarter page:
"The player is a legendary Hero, stripped of his or her powerful relics and left to explore the distinct and epic regions of Terminus. You will be guided by the hopes of reclaiming long-lost relics and the power of the friendships they forge pushing them onward."
Standard fantasy races need apply; Dwarves, elfs and humans will all be playable, as well as ogres and a token undead race called revenants. Classes revealed thus far are the Cleric, Dark Knight, Crusader, Rogue, and Enchanter; soon-to-be revealed classes are the Wizard and the Shaman. Combat will place a focus not only on cooperation, but the player's preparation and awareness; spell and ability selections pre-encounter will be sink or swim for the group, as the scenarios being planned will challenge the player to dodge, block or deflect attacks and rise above their opposition and will reportedly "go beyond active reactions to encounter mechanics".
Set in a world called Terminus, a massive hodge-podge of disparate planes crushed together by massive cosmic events, Pantheon: Rise of the Fallen (PRotF), will aim to reward those players that actively involve themselves in the world, explore, and take on the dangers of this world with unique and powerful loot, spells, and abilities. Quoted from the Kickstarter page: "Positive actions should be rewarded. Apathy or lack of action should not be rewarded with bonuses."
I don't know about you guys, but THIS is a point of view this humble DJ could definitely get behind!
If you have questions about the game, then maybe I can point you to these three videos on Youtube featuring Q&A session with Brad McQuaid himself.
