The game itself was a pretty big hit on the Sega Master System in 1989, it was the third game in the series an was to blame for many a missed homework assignment and very late night when I had school the next day.

It's a 2D platform adventure which sees the protagonist, Wonderboy searching for a cure to a curse inflicted on him by the Meka-Dragon that has turned him into a half lizard. But the fun doesn't stop there as throughout his adventure, Wonderboy can turn into myriad creatures including a mouse, hawk, pirahna, and lion.

The game will feature everything you'd expect from its huge world, many varieties of dragon, including samurai, zombie, and mummies. An eyepatch wearing pig who will sell you items, and the option to play as a female version of Wonderboy, so Wondergirl if you will. And of course, the game retains its sense of humour, so if eyepatch wearing pigs making comments about “cross dressing as a goblin” are your thing, you may well want to check it out.

On top of that the game has been reimagined with new, updated, hand painted graphics and classical instrument score based on the Shinichi Sakamoto original music, and a whole host of additions yet to be announced.

One interesting point is that the game can be playable in its original form, or its new form, meaning the original graphics and soundtrack from the 8bit era are there, and if you so wish, you can even play the new graphics with the old music and vice versa.
