Out of New York, New York Bayview Terrace is considered an Alternative band however I prefer to call them a refreshing, upbeat band you just can't help getting hooked on. Songs like I Don't Care and These Years draw on real life like High School and growing up or moving on after a difficult time in your life forging a connection with a wide range of music lovers. Just in time for Summer their new single Turn Out The Lights is a free download on their bandcamp page just put a zero in the price and you will get the track emailed to you.
I've had a chance to talk with the bands founding member Dan who gives us a peek behind the curtain:
What brought you guys together as a band?
Bayview Terrace began with just myself, Dan, in the summer of 2012. It was my first time really out singing and writing music by myself and soon found myself wanting to move up from acoustic music to a full band. I recorded our debut self-titled EP completely by myself, performing each of the instruments on it. After that I called up the drummer and guitarist of my old band and one of our friends who played bass with another local group to start rehearsing to release the EP. From there we began playing shows around Long Island and NYC to build on the EP and get the word out.
Where do you draw your inspiration from?
Each of our inspirations for writing are a bit different but we all love a core group of bands and musicians. My personal influences are mainly Fall Out Boy, A Day To Remember, Patent Pending and Jimmy Eat World. On the contrary, our bassist Jeff also plays in a progressive/indie band so he's heavily influenced by bands like YES, Rush and Led Zeppelin. I think the wide range in the music we all listen to impacts our sound in a way that makes it different from other bands in our category.
What can fans expect for 2014?
Well, we've released a new single for summer on Thursday July 3rd! Really excited for that. Bit of a different sound than our full length which we released earlier this year. We're currently in the process of working with a new drummer to begin playing live again by the end of the month, with a set of dates being worked on for August to go around the tri-state area. The Fall is still a bit up in the air, though you can rest assured we will be working on that shortly! As was announced earlier in the year, all of our music, including our debut full length is available for free online through our website. We just want to share it with everybody and get the word out as much as possible.
Be sure to hit up their Facebook and Twitter as well as their Bandcamp page to get hold of their new Album Parked Cars and as always don't forget to tell them who sent you.
