Cause for Concern is A British Nu-Metal band formed in 2011 who are attempting to bring back the Nu-metal genre for a new generation. They are a low tuned band with tight groove riffs, an experimental approach to song writing, synth and memorable lyrics both cleanly sung and dirty screams. During the 3 years that they have been together, they've played a wide variety of shows ranging from intimate pub venues to the O2 academy 3 and some small festivals.
After a 10 month hiatus where the line up was changed to the 5 piece group that it is today the band has had a chance to really think about what direction to go in and have come back more determined than ever, with many shows booked in this coming year that will be full of energy and a great sound. They plan to play these shows with the new material to get more fans and then at the end of the year have a large launch event where the image of the band will be reveiled. The plan is to use UV lights, paints and outfits to create a memorable stage image and show.
I've had a chance to talk with Wolfy:
What brought you guys together as a band?
In 2011 Jesper, Neve and Alex came together during their college years to broaden their musical horizons. They began to get together and have a bit of fun keeping it as a hobby until they realised that they should start pushing it as much as they could. So they brought in more members, started writing songs, practising and slowly working away until they got to a point in 2012 where they felt that they could show the world what they were like. Together they gigged for less than a year and went on hiatus with some dramatic member changes, until they came back in the start of 2014 with the current Cause for Concern line up.
Where do you draw your inspiration from?
As a band we pull inspiration from a lot of different bands and genres to create the sound we want. KoRn generally are a massive inspiration for us in terms of our sound and The Defiled’s image and work ethic are also a massive inspiration. For the guitars riffs, Static-X and KoRn-esque with a Nu-Metal/Industrial Metal sound is where we look to when writing, and we focus on clean vocals essentially, with which we look towards more progressive bands like Porcupine Tree, Hurt and Radiohead.
What can fans expect for 2014?
For 2014 we are pushing our debut self-titled 5 track EP which we have released digitally for free, with a non-profit physical release being planned along with physical merchandise. With this demo EP we will also release a music video with the title track which has yet to be confirmed. The band doesn't wish to go along with the music made today, there is enough of that, they want to make their own stand, sound and look that will make Cause for Concern a band worth listening to and worth the time to make a lasting career. We’ll also be gigging up and down the UK promoting the EP and building our fan base for massive news coming in 2015 which at the moment we have to keep under wraps.
