New this week on Indie Saturday Premiere - Message To Venus

Originally from Puerto Rico, Message to Venus currently resides in South Florida. Making their mark in 2011 with their debut single "Universal You" their sound is comparable to The Deftones, Soundgarden and Alice In Chains. They've been nominated for a Latin Rock Award in the Slam Alernative/Rock category in 2012, their music is featured in the motion pictures The Witness (El Testigo) as well as Unknowns and they participated in the International Day of Non-Violence.

I had a chance to chat with John:

What brought you guys together as a band?
We have known each other form the local Puerto Rican music scene for a long time. I had a project that fell apart and John, Edgar and JuanMa had a band who's singer called it quits. I was called by our producer Leo Alvarez because the guys were in the middle of recording an album and if I wanted to help them finish it. So all vocals were recorded by me, few musical changes and now we have Victims & Villains for you.

Where do you draw your inspiration from?
We all are SciFi fans and comic book fans. Some of us are gamers, some of us are gypsies, some of us live the beach life and some of us live hectic lives struggling to survive as musicians. We use movies we are fans of, along with real life situations as inspiration to compose.

What can fans expect for 2014?
We relocated from Puerto Rico to Florida. We also have an Indiegogo campaign to help fund the promotion of our new album Victims & Villains.
In the meantime keep track of these rockers by heading to their social media pages: Facebook Twitter Instagram and their website and be sure to tell them who sent ya!

I love it when bands release cover songs and these guys have done one of Depeche Modes' song Stripped. They've captured the essence of the original while weaving in rock undertones, complementing Jandre's clear and powerful vocals.
